"The seaside town of Weymouth is steeped in history. Interestingly, what we think of as Weymouth town today is the area previously known as Melcombe Regis. Weymouth was originally two separate towns, with the river and the harbour forming boundaries between them - Weymouth was on the south side and the town of Melcombe Regis on the north side.

Today, we simply know Weymouth stretching to the north and south boundary.
